I have over 14 years experience working with children, young people, families, parents and carers supporting a range of needs. During my time as a Pupil Development Practitioner, I recognised my passion for wanting to support children and their families through life’s challenges. I made the step to becoming a Therapist and have 9 years experience practising as a Play Therapist and Theraplay practitioner. I find this work hugely rewarding and recognise this medium of child therapy to be incredibly powerful.
I work largely from a child centred approach, fostering a trusting relationship, offering unconditional positive regard and carefully guiding to support, hold and enable the processing and integration of difficult feelings, traumatic experiences and emotional challenges.
I use a range of resources as tools within the therapy space, such as dolls, construction, dolls house, sand tray, arts and crafts amongst more, and most importantly create a safe and secure space, within which the child feels able to express and explore at their own pace.
I have experience of working with children across a range of requirement and need, including those who have experienced; trauma, adoption, foster care, bereavement, ADHD, FAS, Autism, Selective Mutism, anxiety, depression, developmental and behavioural challenges.
